Biography


Emilia Sintoni is a contemporary dancer, teacher of dance, dance history and theory and choreographic techniques. Born in Ravenna, she studied dance in Bologna and attended to several courses and workshops in Italy and abroad, including the London Contemporary Dance School. She attended masterclasses and choreographic workshops leaded by Henry Oguike and Richard Alston in Londra, by Sarah Taylor, Mauro Bigonzetti, Fabrizio Monteverde, Emanuela Tagliavia, Corinne Lancelle, Pompea Santoro, Yoshito Ohno, Christine Dakin and several others. She graduated in Information Science and in Philosophy (with thesis about Contemporary dance between Nature and Culture) and took a Phd in Theatrical and Dance Studies at the University of Bologna.

She attended to 5 years courses in Human Resource Management and Development and Interpersonal Communication in team work and to 3 years course about Perspective Methodology of Gaston Berger. She experiences collaborations with music, poetry, painting, theatre. Since 2006 she has collaborated with Emilia Romagna Festival (dancing pieces of the pianist A. Padova e the Partitas for Solo Violin of J. S. Bach played by P. Hommage). She danced excerpts from Odissea and Iliade for the season “O Musiva Musa” in Ravenna. In Zurich she executed a performance for the exhibition of the painter J. Rosenboom “In eine andere welt tanzen”, for whom she prepares also the new performance “Equilibrio” in 2008 and in 2009 in Imola for Imola in Musica Festival.

She was selected for the choreographic worskshop of the Biennale Danza in Venice directed by Ismael Ivo in 2007. She created the choreographies for Evos – A world fo men and women – with the pianist S. Malferrari and Finzioni – Conversations for voice, music and dance with Jorge Luis Borges – with P. Contavalli, premiered in Bologna in 2008. In 2008, with Tangocinco quintet, she created Solotango, project of co-operation between music and dance, and several others artistic performances. She took part to Festival dei Misteri in Campobasso with Ensemble Musica di Corte conducted by M° Stefano Bagliano. Since 2008, with cellist M° Luigi Piovano, she has been dancing the Suites for violoncello solo n. 2 e n. 4 of J.S. Bach, showed at Festival of Chamber Music in Genova, Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte in Montepulciano, Teatro Alighieri di Ravenna and Villa d’Este in Tivoli (Roma).

With Dr. Massimo Franceschetti and Cultural Association Iride, she carries out events and seminars about communication and dance. In 2009, in partnership with the Municipality of Ravenna, she organized the show-exhibition-performance “Evolvere – multimedial event between art and science”, in co-ooperation with the painter Nicoletta Agnoli.
